Choosing a bodyboard brand

Bodyboarding has a small, rider-driven industry. Many brands are run by current or former pros who still test every core, template and fin themselves, and plenty of boards are still shaped in small factories close to the waves they were designed for.

What the brands make

  • Boards: cores (PP, PE, NRG), templates and tails suited to different waves and riding styles.
  • Fins and leashes: the gear that turns paddling power into speed and keeps you attached to your board.
  • Wetsuits and accessories: rash vests, board bags, wax and repair kits.

Supporting the sport

Many of these brands sponsor local clubs and contests. Buying from them helps fund the events and riders that keep bodyboarding going, so it's worth finding a club near you and seeing who backs it.
